‘Conventional Wisdom’ is very near to being an oxymoron; an inherent contradiction. For what prevails as common wisdom is made more by ignorance, laziness, fear, peer pressure and the traditional influences of the greedy and powerful promoted to control the majority against the best interests of that majority than it is made by the requisites of true wisdom: reason and logic applied to experience, coupled with discipline and the ability to recognize the influences of the greedy and powerful passed through conserved traditions detracting from the majority best interest, as the aristocrats have always done in the subjugation of others. Anything conventional must be regarded with great suspicion and self-protecting ‘cynicism’ for these invaluable reasons, as ‘cynicism’ is simple acknowledging that people and their corporations and institutions do things based upon motive, usually a motive that is costly to those that consume it whole, and that to not be aware of this truth and guard against these trespasses is to be a victim.
